Christmas/Gingerbread House Party

Join the Family Ministry group for a gingerbread house making party on Saturday, December 10th from 10-12 in the New Life in Christ room.  Please bring your own graham crackers, icing and candy to share.  We are also in need of a pack of styrofoam plates and a pack of styrofoam cups (50 would be plenty).

Our community project for this month is filling stockings for the Salvation Army.  Our goal is to fill 10 stockings - 5 for a boy and 5 for a girl ranging in ages 5-9.  In addition to buying stocking stuffers, we are asking each family to donate a $5 gift card to Target, Walmart or 5 Below to add to the stockings.  Please sign up below for the items you will be donating.

5 pairs of boy socks
5 pairs of girl socks
5 balls for a boy
5 balls for a girl
5 matchbox cars
5 packs of hair accessories
5 books for a boy
5 books for a girl
5 girl toys
5 boy toys

We are thinking that this will cost each family between $10-$15 (between the 5 items and the gift card) since most of these stocking stuffers can be found in places like the Dollar Store or the "One Spot" in Target.

Also, just as an FYI, we are asking the congregation for toothbrushes, tooth paste, coloring books, crayons, candy, gloves and chapstick in hopes of having a wide variety of items and 10 very full stockings.

Thanksgiving Potluck

Join us for a Family Ministry Potluck dinner on Saturday, November 19th from 4-6.  In order to have enough of each type of food, please visit the blog to sign up for what you will be bringing.  Also our community service project for this month is 2 parts:
          1.  Carroll Food Sunday is in need of donations of nutritious, non-perishable food that you would serve to your own family.  Here is their wish list:
  • Canned Fruit
  • Hot or Cold Cereal
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Canned Tuna, Chicken, Salmon
  • Plain Rice
  • Canned Soup
  • Spaghetti in one pound boxes, Macaroni & Cheese
  • Peanut Butter, Canned Beans
  • Tomato Sauce
2.  Help Animals by Donating to Kibble Connection - The Maryland SPCA collects donated pet food and kitty litter in unopened containers for Meals on Wheels to deliver to local homebound clients with pets. Maryland SPCA volunteers and staff load the food and take it to the Community Support Services for the Deaf, where it is sorted and assembled into convenient packages for Meals on Wheels clients. It is then distributed with the meals. Kibble Connection helps ensure that Meals on Wheels clients and their pets maintain good nutrition. We're running low again on kitty litter and cat food, both wet and dry.
We ask that each family bring a dish and a drink to share.  Sign up here:

Fall Harvest Day - October 30, 2011

Join us for a Fall Harvest Day Party at Jubilee Hall on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 11:30-1:30.  There will be crafts, games and the community service project of creating 100 (peanut-free) Trick-or-Treat bags for the soup kitchen.

We are in need of the following donations for the Trick-or-Treat bags:
  • 50 GIANT size lunch bags (we already have 50 and they were apparently bought at Target)
  • 100 fun-sized plain M&Ms
  • 100 fun-sized Skittles
  • 100 fun-sized 3 Muskateers
  • 200 Tootsie Rolls
  • 100 snack-sized bags of pretzels
  • 100 snack-sized bags of Goldfish
  • 100 applesauce and/or fruit cups
  • 100 packages of cheese crackers
  • monetary donation to cover remaining items (if needed)
Please respond to let us know what you can donate and how many you will be purchasing so we know that we have enough items to fill all 100 bags with the same items.

Also, bring Halloween costumes and a snack to share!

RSVP by October 25th so we have enough craft supplies.
